Our pledge to protect the nature that we rely on

The Mountain Studio focuses on using materials, construction methods and business practices that minimises harm to the environment. That's what we refer to as responsibility.

Producing clothing that’s designed to withstand the toughest weather conditions will inevitably involve the use of materials and processes that cause some degree of harm to the environment.

This is why we’ve chosen to refrain from using the term sustainability, and to prioritise and communicate the concepts of environmental and social responsibility instead, and promote mindful consumption.
Because we believe in the concept of buying less, but better.

We’re committed to minimising our impact on the environment by carefully selecting our materials, production methods, and business practices, and by creating garments that you’ll be able to use and rely on to deliver the highest levels of performance for many years to come. This is at the heart of The Mountain Studio’s approach.

The Mountain Studio commits to sustainability by incrementally enhancing our existing models. This approach allows us to delve deep into refining and optimising our offerings, and focus on introducing improved fabric technologies and nuanced colour palettes, rather than periodically overhauling our entire product line.

We firmly believe in the power of conscious consumers, and we dedicate ourselves to designing and producing high-quality, timeless pieces that are built to last.

By creating durable clothing, we encourage our customers to buy less frequently and choose items that have multiple uses, which can be cherished and worn for many years.

Preferred Materials

We often use the term “preferred materials” for fabrics and materials that are as sustainable, ethically sourced, and environmentally friendly as they can possibly be.

Because of this, our selection process takes into consideration more than the functionality, durability, and aesthetic properties of a fabric – we also estimate the environmental impact of our materials. This includes using organic, recycled, and upcycled materials whenever possible.

Care and Repair

Even the most well-made garment will eventually start to show some kind of wear or suffer accidental damage. We’re committed to the idea that clothing should be repaired and refurbished, rather than thrown away.

We do our best to provide resources and guides on the proper care of our garments, to extend their lifespan. Our repair services are easily accessible, allowing customers to have their clothing repaired and refurbished, reducing the need for replacements.

Sustainable Transports

We are dedicated to minimising our carbon footprint from transportation. We prioritise eco-friendly shipping options like ship and rail freight, and work towards optimising our supply chain to reduce emissions.

1% for the Planet

1% for the Planet is a highly respected international movement that counts more than 5,000 companies among its ranks, which have so far collectively donated more than 500 MEUR to initiatives and projects dedicated to preserving the planet.

As a member of 1% for the Planet, The Mountain Studio pledges to donate one per cent of our annual sales to environmental organisations and initiatives that work to preserve and restore our planet’s ecosystems.

Protect Our Winters

Protect Our Winters (POW) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to combating climate change and raising awareness among the outdoor sports community. POW mobilises athletes, scientists, creatives, and brands to advocate for systemic solutions that can help reduce global carbon emissions. The organisation focuses on education, activism, and political engagement, with the overall objective of influencing climate policy.
